Module rationale
This introductory module sets the foundation for the course. It introduces STE(A)M in simple, everyday terms and highlights why it matters for girls’ learning and future opportunities.
Parents often feel that STE(A)M requires specialised knowledge. This module presents a different perspective: parents already play an important role through everyday interactions, language, and encouragement.
The module focuses on raising awareness of gender stereotypes and showing how these can influence girls’ confidence and participation. It also introduces the idea of parents as role models and supporters, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment at home.
This module prepares parents for the next modules, where they will explore practical ways to support curiosity, creativity, communication, and digital thinking.
